About NGO
Foundation for Development Initiative (FDI) is a not-for-profit society registered in New Delhi, India under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and 12A of Income Tax Act of 1961. We are also registered under Ministry of Corporate Affairs for Corporate Social Responsibility & Darpan (Niti Aayog) Government of India (GOI) and for foreign contribution under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Our core work is with the underprivileged and marginalised communities in villages spanning across 21+ Indian states. FDI came into existence in the year 2000 based on the felt need that development initiatives often do not reach the poorest of poor villages and communities. Hence, we seek to reach out to people without access to services and resources, complementing but not substituting the efforts of government and other providers.
FDI has worked with UNICEF India, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Canadian International Development Agency, Youth for Human Rights International USA and number of reputed Corporate in India which includes, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, DLF Ltd., PI Industries Ltd, Tata Power etc. So far FDI has reached out to more than 6,51,000 people (58% women) through various programs.
One of FDI’s foremost goals in the development process is the creation of “enabling environments”, through fostering public private partnerships and capacity enhancement of stakeholders. FDI seeks to increase its horizon by developing new partnership and scale-up its support contributing global sustainable development agenda.
FDI’s mission is to coordinate an integrated approach to development, by assembling under a single umbrella, and forming collaborations with the grass-root organisations, communities, businesses, and individuals working in the sector. Key team members possess over 20 years of experience in the development sector. FDI professionals are experts in analysis, research, design and implement solutions in the areas of economic development, market systems, resilience, agriculture, climate change adaptation, environment and health systems.
